We talked about the two main kinds of books - Fiction and Nonfiction. Mr. Wiggle took us looked around the library and explained the difference between fiction books and nonfiction books to us very well.

We also discussed how fiction books and nonfiction books are labelled differently. Fiction books are labeled by authors, while Nonfiction books are labeled by numbers(the Dewey Decimal System, which we will discuss more about it later). We then had another look at the online library database to find out how the information is showed in the search results, which is a little bit tricky. But we will get better on this, as Ms. Yvonne will show us again and give us some time to practise on her ICT lessons!

We discussed the different ways on finding a book in the librray...the children have been thinking hard and gave out a few ideas, as like ask the librarian, look through the books or search on the computer... And we all agreed that 'search' is the most efficent way to find the book and we are quite happy with the database we are using now - http://dsclibrary.dulwich-shanghai.cn which is able to be accessed at anywhere!

We tried to search for a few books that we like and looked at the information that a search result brings us and managed to find these books on the shelves!

Do you like the DUCKS library? Have you been enjoying your library time so far? What would you like to do in the library? What's your favourite bit of the library? What else you think we could make it happen in the library??

We've had some interesting discussions refer to those questions above this week and we've tried to make our own lesson plans! Almost everyone loved the idea that we are able to take books home...ALMOST?! Yes, almost - a few of us didn't enjoy choosing books because they find it hard to find a good book! Which is a very good point for us to discuss! Ha, hope we could solve this out next week!
