The children in nursery, Reception and Year 1 have been helping on choosing stories for Ms. Helen and Ms. Cookie to read to the class. And we took a look on spine labels again.

The books in the library are labelled by the author's surname. As for Mr. Tony Ross that we talked about last week, his books are able to be found in the 'R' box of the Snake, while Ms. Emily Gravett's books can be found in the 'G' box.
We introduced Emily Gravett to Year 2 and continued on making our own little books. We managed to put spine labels on for our books!

We enjoyed listening to the story 'Meerkat Mail' and were amazed by the illustrations of this book! Emily Gravett is definitely going to be one of our favourite authors and illustrators!

Emily is one of those very talent ones who does their wonderful stories and amazing pictures all by themselves. She visited DUCKS in 2010 and has left some nice paintings to us. Where are the paintings now? Of course library is the best place for them to be!

More of Emily's books are available from the library! To know more about Emily Gravett.

We introduced Tony Ross the famous illustrator and author and his little princess stories and other books to the children this week. We discussed the illustrations and tried to design the little princess in our own ways!

Toddlers listened to the story 'I want my mum' on CD, and it was the first time we tried to colour in a picture in the library! They seem to be enjoyed playing with some colours!

For nursery and reception we listened to 'I want my mum' and read one of the other little princess stories in their second lesson. The children loved the little princess and her song!
Here is an E-book available from the library to read online!

For Year 2 we read the book 'Misery Moo' which Tony Ross worked with author Jeanne Willis. We looked at the illustrations and discussed our favourite illustration of the story.

We also paired up to start on making our own picture books! Some of the children have decided to be the illustrators, some have decided to be the authors and some are going to do both the jobs themselves just like Tony Ross!

This week in the library, we've been reading stories of the very popular witch - Winnie! We loved listening to Winnie's stories, they are good for all year groups.

Here are the Winnie the witch books that we've been reading this week. Different classes might had different stories as they were the ones who decided what to read!
Nursery and Reception children also enjoyed colouring a picture of Winnie.

For Year 1 and Year 2 we also talked about authors and illustrators - an author is the person who writes the words and an illustrator is the one who draws the pictures of the book.
