Here is a link to an article I found about children's shoes and myths that a lot of us have believed to be true, me included, that can be impeding if not detrimental to the growing bodies/feet of our children.  As some of you have seen me wearing my Vibram Five Fingers (alien shoes as the kids call them) you will know that this is an issue close to my heart, or foot as it were. So enjoy and let me know any thoughts you have on the subject.

This week we have tried to utilize our newly refined throwing and catching skills in a game situation.  The game that we have been working on is called Mat Ball.  It is very similar to baseball, softball, teeball, and mostly kickball.  To be able to perform well, the students needed to use both throwing to a target and passing to a partner techniques that we focused on last week.  The game has quite a lot of different things going on all at the same time and it has been interesting to see the kids enjoyment of the game grow as they became more and more comfortable with their understanding of the rules and strategies.  Some key terms that the should now be aware of are:

Pitcher
Foul Ball
Out
Safe
Home
Base

They should also be able to tell what the 3(year 1) or 4(year 2) ways are that a player can get out.
